Charity suffereth long, and is kind; charity vaunteth not itself, is not puffed up, doth not behave itself unseemly, seeketh not her own, is not easily provoked, thinketh no evil; rejoiceth not in iniquity, but rejoiceth in the truth; beareth all things, believeth all things, hopeth all things, endureth all things. Charity never faileth. I Corinthians 13: 4-8a
He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love. In this was manifested the love of God toward us, because that God sent His only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through him. Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that He loved us, and sent His Son to be the propitiation for our sins. I John 4:8-10
Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect. Matthew 5:48

God is perfect. He is complete, lacking nothing. When He says He is good, that means every part of Him is good, no exceptions. When He says He is love, that means He is wholly love. He is the very notion of love, lacking nothing, the definition of what it means; He is love itself. When you read I Corinthians 13, it is not just a list of what you should be doing in your own life concerning love. This passage is telling you about God. About who He is. When He sent His only Son to die on your behalf, so that you may live, that was the manifestation of who He is. It was an outer action to show the inner person of Himself. Sometimes we confuse love with an action. You might think that someone loves you because they write you a love letter, or listen to you talk, or hold your hand. It is different with God. He IS LOVE itself, and when He blesses you, it is only to show you that love. It's because we humans are so literal that we could not encapsulate the entirety or completeness of the notion of love, of who God is. It is, in fact, so unfathomable that God gave us an eternity to experience the depths of it with Him. We need an eternity to get to know God. I cannot imagine eternity, it escapes my mind. You cannot imagine what complete love looks like or feels like.

What we can fathom about this love is embodiment. When parts of who God is are embodied in time and humanity, then we can get a grasp on it. We are not grasping the whole of love; we are grasping the small part of love that we see here on earth. God showed us what love can look like and feel like. He sent His Son to die for your sin. Christ showed patience, kindness, humility, forgiveness and truth in that act. He bore all your rebellion, believed that you were valuable, held a confident expectation that loving you was enough, and endured the very wrath of God on your behalf, even to His death, separation from the Father, and agony on the cross. Christ did not fail you. He never gave up on you. That is love. That is the entirety of love, in one act. And God does not stop there. He justifies you through Christ's blood, and He sanctifies you through His Spirit, and He will glorify you when you arrive at eternity's shore. No holds barred. Nothing of Himself is not given to you, when you ask of it. That is love. It is beautiful, perfect, compete love.

When He sanctifies you, He develops within you this type of love, so you can embody it for other people to see. Know God. Be perfect, be complete, even as your heavenly Father is perfect. Show love to others.

I see Your face in every sunrise
The colors of the morning are inside Your eyes
The world awakens in the light of the day
I look up to the sky and say
You're beautiful

I see Your power in the moonlit night
Where planets are in motion and galaxies are bright
We are amazed in the light of the stars
It's all proclaiming who you are
You're beautiful

I see you there hanging on a tree
You bled and then You died and then You rose again for me
Now you are sitting on Your heavenly throne
Soon we will be coming home
You're beautiful

When we arrive at eternity's shore
Where death is just a memory and tears are no more
We'll enter in as the wedding bells ring
Your bride will come together and we'll sing
You're beautiful
