Last evening I watched the film "JOY", which is a semi-autobiographical account of the woman, Joy Mangano, who invented the wringable mop. Jennifer Lawrence gave an incredible performance. The tempo of the movie felt slightly like Wes Anderson; while Anderson is more artful, I enjoyed the style of this film.

I was reminded of the following during the movie.

Our lives work in tandem with each other. We work and play, get married and divorced, meet new people and read about new ideas. Everything that happens to us, happens for a reason. God has a tightly woven tapestry of our lives that forms a sovereign plan. It's the hand of God to use situations of waiting and brokenness for good.

Our dreams are necessarily unrealistic, but they are our propeller into reality.

Even when life is undoubtably the worst you could imagine, there is still more life to live. You are here for a reason. Your life is eternal.

Sometimes you go through trying circumstances that you have to hold strong through. But there are situations and people coming that are going to make you stronger. And you learn, through these circumstances, that you had reserves of strength you didn't know were there.

Cutting your own hair may assist in building the courage necessary to take risks and challenges. I can attest to this, having cut my hair for the past 3 years. The act of cutting your own hair is, in itself, a burst of boldness, adrenaline, and relief.

Some things don't ever change, like your family, which is probably somewhat dysfunctional. But you love them through the good, the bad, and the worse. You still sacrifice for them, and you still love them.

Whatever you were created to do, you should keep doing that work, even when you fail at it. Even if you get sidetracked for years with other distractions. The key is to do the work. Do the thing you were designed to do.
